Why Mountain America Is Built for Our Members

Sterling Nielsen,
President/CEO
In 1936, Mountain America Credit Union was founded on a simple but powerful promise—to help fellow telephone company employees improve their lives. This cooperative model became possible through the Federal Credit Union Act of 1934, which opened the door to a new kind of banking institution in the United States. When this new ownership structure was introduced, control within these financial institutions shifted from shareholders to members.

Part of a larger movement
Today, this member-first focus lives on through what credit unions call the people helping people philosophy. It’s a shared vision that remains the framework for every decision we make as an organization.
As we recognize 90 years of service to our members, I am reminded that what has kept Mountain America strong is not just our longevity, it is our commitment to continuous improvement.

One member, one login
At the heart of this commitment is the idea that each member’s financial path is improved through a customized experience. Our new login structure, which provides members with simplified account access, is more than a technological improvement—it is the foundation for a banking relationship that is truly yours.
Here is what the new structure means for you:
Stronger fraud protection
Security has always been a priority at Mountain America, and these updates take it further. With a single login per member, our systems can more accurately apply behavioral biometrics to identify and stop unauthorized access before it becomes a risk to you. This is one of the many measures we have taken so you can bank with confidence.

More services for joint accountholders
Shared finances shouldn't limit a member’s experience. This is why joint users can now register for an individual digital banking profile, unlocking access to a variety of added features that can better inform your financial decisions and help you plan for the future. With our updated platform, you can set up personalized account alerts, manage your own bill pay payees and check your credit score as often as you like.
Putting members first
We remain steadfast in our commitment to grow and evolve alongside the communities we serve, but our most important priority remains taking care of our members. I’m confident we have the right people and the right preparations in place to support members for many years to come.
We know change can sometimes feel unfamiliar, and we are here to help you navigate every step of the way. Our team is ready to answer your questions, walk you through new features and make sure you feel confident and supported in your financial goals.
Thank you for being a valued member of Mountain America. It is an honor to serve you. We look forward to guiding you forward well into the future.

Why choose a rewards card
Our Rewards credit card can deliver more value than standard cards because you earn one point on every dollar spent, no special requirements.

As you use your card for regular expenses, you collect points that can easily be redeemed for a variety of options—travel, gift cards, event tickets and even cash. It’s a practical way to stretch your budget, especially when you pay off your full balance each month to avoid interest charges.

Earn points on everything
Everyday purchases are the perfect option with our Rewards credit card. Gas, groceries, bills—it all counts. Points accumulate steadily and can be redeemed for small items, like a $25 gift card, or something more extravagant such as a $500 travel rebate.

Score double
You can further maximize your card benefits by taking advantage of special promotions. For example, Mountain America is currently offering double points on every purchase with your Rewards credit card through July 31, 2026.1

It’s more than just points
Our Rewards credit card has features that make life easier:
