Mountain America Credit Union Donates $14,000 to Support Red Cross of Utah Relief Efforts
Donation resulted from credit union’s partnership with BYU; $50 gifted for every men’s basketball team’s three-point shot
In early March, Mountain America Credit Union donated $14,000 to the Red Cross of Utah as part of its ongoing support of Brigham Young University’s community engagement programs, specifically $50 for every three-point shot made by the members of the men’s basketball team.
“Community involvement is at the heart of everything we do at Mountain America,” said Sterling Nielsen, president and chief executive officer at Mountain America Credit Union. “We enjoy our partnership with BYU and tying their success into relationships with other organizations to create exciting ways to make a long-lasting impact in the communities we serve.”
This is the sixth season Mountain American Credit Union has teamed with BYU athletics to support the Red Cross of Utah. Mountain America also contributed $12,500 for touchdowns scored by the BYU football team during the 2022 season.
The Red Cross uses donations to help Utah communities prepare for, prevent, and respond to emergencies while delivering on its mission of providing hope and compassion to those affected by house fires and other emergencies.
“Mountain America’s generous support helps ensure that the Red Cross of Utah can respond immediately with comfort and care when disasters occur,” said Heidi Ruster, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross Utah/Nevada Region. “It’s a valuable donation that supports people in need and allows us to continue our lifesaving fire prevention initiatives, such as providing free smoke alarms and installations in vulnerable communities.”
