Natalie Nelson has become a source of comfort, strength and joy for students with severe disabilities at Kearns High School. Every day, she creates a space where her students feel seen. She encourages them to discover their abilities and celebrates every milestone, no matter how small. Her work in the classroom and her involvement in Unified Sports help her students feel connected to their peers and to the larger school community.

What makes Natalie stand out is the way she believes in her students long before they believe in themselves. She pushes past assumptions, focusing instead on their potential and the futures they deserve. Families and colleagues often notice the way her students light up around her, reflecting the trust and love she has built with them.

Natalie’s dedication was recognized when she received Granite School District’s Excel Award. Shortly after, the Mountain America Dream Team and FOX 13 arrived to give her a special surprise, honoring the heart she brings to her work every day.
