Mountain America Donates More Than 50,000 Meals to Local Food Banks
Feeding America estimates roughly 17 million more Americans are now considered food insecure because of the coronavirus pandemic, meaning 54 million Americans currently do not have adequate food. Since March, food banks have seen increased demand, while fewer grocery store donations are coming in due to record supply demand.
To help support the community during this difficult time, Mountain America Credit Union continued its support of local food banks. Donations totaling $10,000 were made to the Utah Food Bank, Idaho Foodbank and St. Mary’s Food Bank (Arizona), providing more than 50,000 meals.
This year, Mountain America has donated over $32,000 to local food pantries, helping feed more than 150,000 individuals in five states.
This past spring, Mountain America’s employee match program contributed $20,300 to local food banks, donating more than 100,000 meals to families and individuals in Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.
