Q: How long will it take to resolve a fraudulent transaction?
Fraud investigations vary based on the type of transaction and the details of the case.
In most situations, once you report fraud, we issue a provisional credit within three business days while we conduct our review.
The investigation process can take up to 10 business days for debit card transactions and up to 45 days for other transaction types, as allowed by federal regulations. During this time, we review transaction details, member documentation and any information from merchants or payment networks.
If the transaction is confirmed as fraud, the provisional credit becomes permanent. If we determine the transaction was authorized, the provisional credit may be reversed, and we will notify you before taking action.
If any nonsufficient funds fees resulted directly from a confirmed fraudulent transaction, those fees will be reversed.
