People helping people

Mountain America Credit Union is committed to the philosophy of people helping people. We do our best to help support nonprofit organizations in the areas where our members live, work and play.
Believing in the credit union philosophy of people helping people, Mountain America is dedicated to supporting hundreds of charities, nonprofit organizations and schools whose programs are improving lives and providing valuable community resources.

Nonprofit organizations we support

Community outreach

Social responsibility is integrated into the credit union structure and philosophy.

Mountain America maintains a strong interest in the welfare of its members and in the local communities in all five states where we do business.

This includes annual donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Primary Children’s Medical Center.

Financial literacy

Mountain America is heavily invested in a broad array of adult and youth financial literacy efforts. Our financial education is aimed at helping individuals and families become motivated to take action, develop a plan and live balanced lives. Financial literacy tools are available to members and the general public alike.

Mountain America also hosts educational seminars every year at its corporate offices, the expo center, in our branches and at Select Employer Group (SEG) work sites. Topics include:

  • Home buying
  • Retirement planning, including for Medicare
  • Credit score strategy
  • Debt repayment
  • Business planning

We are also involved with the following organizations:

Jump$tart Coalition for personal financial literacy

  • Participating member of the Utah Jump$tart Coalition.
  • Seeks to improve Utah’s youth by developing, disseminating and encouraging the use of financial curriculum for grades K-12.

Keys to Success

Maintains an ongoing partnership with the Ken Garff Automotive Group in more than 60 Utah high schools.

The Keys to Success program motivates students through individual recognition and accomplishment to build a foundation for future learning.

We believe in inspiring change in students' lives by motivating, recognizing and rewarding them for their educational performance.

Scholarships

As a strong proponent of education, Mountain America awards six educational scholarships each year.

Three, $1,000 scholarships are presented each March through one of Mountain America’s Select Employer Groups, Utah Public Employees’ Association (UPEA).

Mountain America also awards three scholarships, totaling $6,000, to members or their dependents who are pursuing higher education.

These three scholarships pay tribute to our former Vice President of Human Resources and Administration, Paul R. Ball, who died tragically in an automobile accident in 1992.

Swing for the Kids Challenge

Mountain America instituted the annual Swing for the Kids Challenge golf tournament fundraiser more than ten years ago.

This program has raised almost $2,000,000 for Primary Children’s Hospital Foundation to assist children and families in need.

Countless lives have been touched through this tournament, generous credit union contributions and our many business partners.
