Dry cracked soil

In this episode of the Guiding You Forward podcast, our host Tasia Briggs, social media specialist at Mountain America Credit Union, sits down with fitness trainer Brittney Taylor. In this episode they tackle goal setting and tips for better results.

In this episode you’ll learn:

  • How to align your goals with your reality.
  • Why consistency overpowers intensity.
  • Why simplicity helps you to sustain success.

When Brittney started helping a friend with health challenges, she didn’t realize that she was also discovering her calling in life. By helping this friend get outside and move her body, Brittney witnessed firsthand how small efforts could seriously change someone’s life. "I knew I wanted to help people," she recalls. Her story reminds us that change doesn't require perfection, it requires strategies that work.

"Set realistic goals," Brittany shares. The biggest mistake people make isn't lacking motivation, it's setting goals that don’t align with their lives. Look at your schedule and your availability, then build goals that fit. “Align your goals with your values," Brittney advises. When your goals reflect what really matters to you, your motivation becomes natural. For example, prioritizing your health helps combat stress and depression, and that mental clarity can impact other areas of your life as well.

Looking for a magic bullet? There isn’t one. But just showing up comes pretty close. Consistency is key to making progress, and having a goal in mind will help you m aximize that consistency! Life gets busy —if you can’t commit the time and effort every day, that’s okay. Do what you can to keep moving forward. "If you don't like your routine, you're not going to stick with it," Brittney reminds us. This isn't about perfection; it's about consistency over time.

Don’t overcomplicate the process. Find the things that work for you, gradually increase and adjust, and remember that it doesn't have to be complicated. Sustainability comes from nuance and simplicity . Start with what's manageable—find what you enjoy and build from there. The final piece? "Keep a positive mindset,” Brittney shares. “The worst thing that you can do is get into a negative space. You definitely won't achieve your goals if you're negative." A simple, positive approach is best.

No matter what your goals are focused on—health, finances, career—they are within reach. Align them with your values, show up consistently—even in small ways—and keep it simple and positive. The path forward doesn't have to be complicated, it just has to be yours. Watch the full video to learn more!
