Loan Assistance for Federal Employees
If you have been furloughed from government employment, we are here to support you. You may request an extension (to skip a loan payment) on an existing Mountain America loan. Documentation of your furlough would be required. After determining eligibility, we will grant extensions one month at a time with a limit of three extensions. Interest will continue to accrue on your loan during deferral.
To request a loan extension, please call the number associated with your loan type.
