Get Prepared to File Taxes
It’s hard to believe, but tax season is here. Hopefully, you’ve kept track of your expenses, receipts and deductions. It’s also smart to make sure you’re aware of the tax law changes that took effect in 2018.
ÂMountain America Credit Union has a few additional tips before you file your taxes:
ÂKnow your financial institution’s routing number—You’ll need this to finalize your return and arrange for a direct deposit on your refund. You can usually find this information on the home page of your institution’s website.
ÂMOUNTAIN AMERICA MEMBERS: Our routing number is 3240 7955 5.
ÂAccess your Form 1099-INT—The 1099-INT form is used to report interest payments made or attributable to you—most notably, interest on a loan. The form breaks down all types of interest income and related expenses.
ÂYou should receive this form in the mail. If you didn’t receive it or have misplaced it, get a replacement from your financial institution’s website or local branch.
ÂMOUNTAIN AMERICA MEMBERS: Access your 1099-INT form in online branch.
ÂMeet with a financial advisor—Check in with an expert before you file to make sure you don’t forget or overlook anything. Whether you meet with one annually or have never met with one before, don’t skip this important step!
