Mountain America Launches Business Speaker Series With Bestselling Author Dr. Velma Trayham
New series brings recognized voices to help Utah business leaders and professionals navigate a rapidly changing business environment
Mountain America Credit Union is launching the Mountain America Business Center Speaker Series, a new program designed to bring recognized thought leaders to Utah’s business community. The inaugural event will feature No. 1 Amazon bestselling author, entrepreneur and speaker Dr. Velma Trayham on July 29 at the Mountain America Business Center in West Jordan.
The event will include a fireside chat with Mountain America Chief Public Affairs Officer Sharlene Wells, live Q&A and a book signing centered on Dr. Trayham’s popular title, “Unfireable in the Age of AI.”
The Mountain America Business Center Speaker Series reflects Mountain America’s ongoing commitment to Utah’s business community, creating opportunities for business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals to connect with influential voices and gain insights on leadership, innovation and long-term success. Future speakers will be announced in coming weeks.
“The Mountain America Business Center Speaker Series supports Utah’s business community with access to thought leaders and timely conversations that help business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals thrive in a rapidly changing world,” said Sharlene Wells, chief public affairs officer at Mountain America Credit Union. “We are honored to have Dr. Velma Trayham as our inaugural speaker to launch the series, and we’re excited to bring one of the nation’s leading voices on entrepreneurship, resilience and the future of work to Utah.” President and CEO of the Black Chamber of Arizona, Dr. Trayham is a widely recognized entrepreneur, author and advocate for workforce resilience. She is a respected voice on artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and workforce development. A No. 1 Amazon bestselling author, Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and 2025 Most Influential Woman honoree, she has delivered programs for Harvard University, Amazon, Arizona State University, JPMorgan Chase and the City of Phoenix.
Her appearance comes at a time when businesses and professionals across the country are adapting to rapid technological change. Through her book and speaking engagements, Dr. Trayham encourages individuals to develop skills, purpose and adaptability that remain valuable regardless of economic or technological shifts.
“The workplace is changing faster than ever, which creates uncertainty for many people,” said Dr. Trayham. “What I’ve found is that resilience begins when people understand their value extends beyond a job title. Purpose helps people navigate change with confidence, contribute more meaningfully and continue growing no matter what challenges come their way.”
The July 29 event will begin with networking and refreshments from 4 to 4:30 p.m., followed by a fireside chat and live Q&A from 4:30 to 5 p.m. A book signing will take place from 5 to 5:30 p.m., with additional networking opportunities available through 6 p.m.
