Our guest’s lifelong appreciation for food fuels his passion for discovering new restaurants and savoring the complete dining experience. SLCFoodie—aka Chase—sits down with podcast host Chase Christensen on the Mountain America Credit Union Guiding You Forward podcast to explore how his genuine love for dining has helped transform the way people experience restaurants across Utah, one recommendation at a time. Two Chases make for one great conversation about food!

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • How visiting buffets as a child sparked a lifelong food adventure.
  • Why Chase only shares what he loves—and how it inspires others to try something new.
  • Chase’s top Utah restaurant picks, from BBQ to Mexican food.

Chase has always been willing to try just about anything, from 49-cent tacos to $250 tomahawk steaks, but his real love for food began in childhood. His mom worked for a company that owned the Sun Valley Resort in Idaho, where the family would occasionally vacation. The resort’s exceptional food, including buffets featuring dishes he had never encountered before, sparked his culinary curiosity. Chase carried that adventurous spirit into the social media age, guided by a simple motto: “If it tastes good, then I’m going to talk about it.”

As a habitually positive person, Chase has chosen to share only what he likes online, and his videos are intoxicating—beautiful footage of velvety sauce pouring over a ramen bowl or a lobster tail getting dunked into gorgeous garlic butter. He loves being the guide who helps people discover food. “One of my biggest goals for SLCFoodie in the last few years is getting people to get out of their comfort zone,” he says. “[When people say] ‘I didn’t think I’d like this, but I went there and I’m addicted now’—that’s one of the best comments I get back.”

Although Chase can cook, he prefers to leave it to the professionals. “I used to cook a decent amount, but I wouldn’t say I was creative,” he admits. “When I meet these chefs, I’m like, wow!” In the episode, he shares some of his favorite Utah spots—including his thoughts on great BBQ and Mexican food—and what makes them so special. If you want top-tier recommendations, Chase delivers.
