Passion and belief in what you’re doing is an important mindset for effective communicators and leaders. Nathan talks about how a good leader must cast a vision. “I believe a great leader is someone who can share with the team the “why” behind the things you need to do,” he says. “Then the team can go out and figure out the “what” and get it done.”

At the beginning of his career, Nathan was overly excited and eager to progress—he was always looking to the future. He recalls a piece of career advice that he was told would always lead to opportunities. That advice has served him well over the years. It’s effective but surprisingly simple.
