We provide scholarship and grant opportunities for students
Getting a college education can be expensive. Fortunately, we may be able to help you foot the bill. Each spring, we award a number of scholarships to deserving students.

Scholarship Opportunities

Mountain America Credit Union’s 2018 Scholarship Program launches February 15, with a total of six scholarships being offered to Mountain America Credit Union members and their families. The scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, community volunteer service and an essay about educational and career aspirations.


 

Mountain America Scholarship

Mountain America awards $2,000 each to three winners of the Mountain America Scholarship, which is available for Mountain America Credit Union members or their families. One $2,000 scholarship is awarded in each of the following categories: community service and social service, general and other academic majors, and business and communications majors.

Instructions and applications are available through the link below. Applications must be completed by the student and mailed to Mountain America, postmarked by April 27, 2018.

Mountain America Scholarship winners will be announced on the company website by June 8, 2018. Presentation of the awards will be held in June.

Mountain America PTA Grants

Mountain America Credit Union gives PTA grants to teachers and PTAs for school supplies or projects supporting K-12 classrooms. You could receive up to $1,500. Eligible applicants must be members of both Mountain America and the PTA.

To apply, simply fill out the form in the link below before September 30, 2018 (only one application per person, per household). We will announce the winners on or after October 31, 2018. Previous winners may apply.

Utah Public Employees’ Association Scholarship

The application period for the 2018 Utah Public Employees' Association Scholarship closed on March 1, 2018. Mountain America Credit Union partnered with the Utah Public Employees’ Association (UPEA) to offer three scholarships of $1,000 each. Eligible applicants needed to be Mountain America and UPEA members or their dependents who live in Utah.

The 2019 Scholarship and Grant Program will be announced in February 2019 on this page.

How to apply for a Mountain America scholarship

Mountain America Scholarship

You will need to print out the application of the scholarship category for which you wish to apply (see color-coded list below).

You may apply for ONE scholarship category ONLY.


Brown: business and communications—finance, economics, marketing, etc.

Yellow: community service/social services—helping professions

Red: general academic and other majors


Application due date

Applications must be postmarked by midnight, April 27, 2018, to qualify. All materials required must be submitted by that date/time in order to qualify the application for consideration (even if the materials are coming from various sources, e.g., the applicant, a school registrar’s office—in the case of transcripts—letters of recommendation, etc.).
 

The application form

Please fill out all sections of the application (both pages).

  1. Official transcript of grades—in an envelope sealed and stamped by the registrar’s office for the final three reporting periods at the high school and/or college where you last enrolled.
  2. A one-page essay—Include your essay, which addresses the topic listed on the front of your application.
  3. A brief summary—Include a summary of how you meet the judging criteria, future plans, community service and special skills.
  4. A certified copy of your U. S. Birth Certificate or U. S. Naturalization Certificate must be included.
  5. Two letters of recommendation from a school counselor, business leader, teacher or religious leader are required. You must include the provider's printed name, title, and telephone number.
  6. Sign the application. If you are younger than 18, your parent or legal guardian must also sign the application.
  7. The application must be complete and must be postmarked by April 27, 2018.
